HOW TO USE CALCIUM RELEASER

Pool Tile Cleaning Instructions:

  1. For porcelain tile, scrape heavy build-up with a 4” razor scraper. On more sensitive surfaces (glass tile) scrape with a plastic scraper or putty knife.
  2. Liberally apply the Calcium Releaser to dry deposits. You should see some bubbling or foaming on contact with the build-up.
  3. Allow the cleaner to sit for several minutes.
  4. Scrub with a nylon scrub pad (3M white or blue) or a stiff scrub-brush.
  5. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 until deposits are fully removed.
  6. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Tips for a better clean!

Calcium Releaser is most effective when applied to dry deposits. If necessary, lower the water level ahead of time to expose the deposits and allow to fully dry. To increase effectiveness, heat Calcium releaser to 10 degrees warmer than ambient air temp by leaving the bottle in a heated space or in the sun.

QUESTIONS ABOUT CALCIUM RELEASER

Here are answers to some common questions.

  • Can I use Calcium Releaser to clean my natural stone?

While Calcium Releaser does not contain mineral acids and is safer for stone than most scale cleaners, it can etch (dull) the surface of some calcium containing stone materials. We always recommend caution and testing the cleaner in a small inconspicuous area before proceeding.

  • Does Calcium Releaser contain hydrochloric acid?

No! Calcium Releaser does not contain any mineral acids like hydrochloric or hydrofluoric acid.

  • Do I have to balance my water after using Calcium Releaser?

No. With normal use, some of the cleaner will inevitably get in the pool but it will not negatively impact the water balance and no special water treatment is required after use.

  • How often should I use Calcium Releaser?

Calcium releaser can be used as often needed to remove scale.

  • Is there a way to prevent calcium build-up in pools?

Yes, we have recommendations for proper water chemistry and use of Oceancare Glass & Tile Shield to minimize build-up.
